I’ve written at length on this blog about many of the innovative, cutting edge projects underway at DC Water. But, at the end of the day, our success as an enterprise still depends on us doing the fundamentals – taking care of our customers and providing them with exceptional service.
That’s why this photo warmed my heart so much. This isn’t a flashy billion dollar project – it’s one of our best employees lending a hand to an elderly resident in the flood-prone neighborhood of Bloomingdale. She came on foot to collect sandbags from our crew, and Foreman Kevin Jhingory insisted on walking back with her and delivering them to her doorstep. It was a small gesture of goodwill, but also a telling moment that spoke to the caliber of our staff and the importance of every interaction with our customers.
Here are some links to some of the media coverage of Kevin’s good deed and our efforts to assist residents during last week’s heavy rains.
